KATSEYE made their Saturday Night Live debut on September 26, 2026, performing on the Season 52 premiere as the musical guest — the first act from the HYBE × Geffen Records joint venture to appear on the most prestigious stage in American broadcast television. Hosted by NBA champion Jalen Brunson, the Season 52 premiere marked a milestone for both KATSEYE and for K-pop's ongoing mainstreaming in the United States, with the group delivering a two-song set during one of the most-watched SNL premieres in recent memory.
KATSEYE'S SNL SET: 'ANIMAL' AND 'HOOTIE FRUTTI' ON THE STUDIO 8H STAGE
KATSEYE performed 'Animal' and 'Hootie Frutti' — their two most globally successful singles from the WILD era — in back-to-back sets during the broadcast. 'Animal,' the lead single from WILD, entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 14 in August 2026 and has since accumulated over 800 million Spotify streams. 'Hootie Frutti,' the follow-up single, charted at No. 37 on the UK Singles Chart in September — the highest UK chart position ever reached by a HYBE act's lead single without a physical release.
Four of KATSEYE's six members performed: Daniela, Lara, Megan, and Yoonchae. Manon Bannerman and Sophia Laforteza remain on hiatus, both having cited mental health and personal wellbeing reasons earlier this year. The four-member configuration has been KATSEYE's touring and promotional lineup since June 2026, and the group's label confirmed in August that both Manon and Sophia are expected to return for a future phase of the WILD cycle.
THE DREAM ACADEMY SKETCH: KATSEYE PLAY THEMSELVES AS SNL JUDGES
Beyond their musical performances, KATSEYE appeared in a taped sketch titled 'Dream Academy 2,' a parody of the Netflix reality competition series that launched the group in 2023. In the sketch, the four performing members played themselves as returning judges evaluating a new class of Dream Academy contestants — each portrayed by cast members in elaborate, deliberately off-brand K-pop styling. The sketch ran approximately four minutes and drew strong social media engagement, with 'Dream Academy parody' trending on X in the US and UK for three hours after broadcast.
The SNL appearance is the most high-profile US broadcast booking KATSEYE has received since their sold-out Coachella weekend-two stage sharing slot in April 2026. It arrives midway through the WILDWORLD Tour, which opened in Dublin on September 2 and runs through November across Europe and North America. KATSEYE's confirmed North America dates begin in November, placing the SNL slot as a direct promotional launch for the US leg.
K-POP'S SNL TIMELINE AND WHAT KATSEYE'S DEBUT SIGNALS
K-pop acts on SNL have been rare. BTS performed on the show in 2021 during their 'Butter' era, becoming the first Korean act to appear as musical guest. BLACKPINK's Rosé performed as a solo guest in 2025 during the 'APT.' promotional cycle. KATSEYE's 2026 appearance makes them the third K-pop act to perform on the show, and the first group to do so since BTS. For HYBE's global-first strategy — building an act designed from the start for Western markets rather than adapting one for export — the SNL booking represents the clearest proof point yet that the model is working at scale.
