ABOUT

JYP Entertainment's nine-member group debuted in 2015 via the survival show 'SIXTEEN' and went on to become one of the best-selling girl groups in K-pop history. Their 'III' world tour in 2023 made them the first K-pop girl group to headline a sold-out show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

THE MEMBERS

Nayeon

Nayeon

Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea

Im Na-yeon auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2010 and trained for five years before surviving the Sixteen cut. She was reportedly considered for Miss A — the JYP group that launched Suzy — before TWICE was formed. As the eldest member, Nayeon anchors the group's vocal identity with a bright, instantly recognisable tone. Her solo debut in 2022 produced the hit 'POP!' which became one of the fastest K-pop solo debuts to exceed 100 million Spotify streams.

Beyond K-pop

Photography — she shoots with professional-grade cameras as a serious hobby — collecting small decorative items, and her Maltese dog, Kookeu.

Jeongyeon

Jeongyeon

Suwon, South Korea

Yoo Jeong-yeon is the younger sister of Korean actress Gong Seung-yeon, a fact that occasionally overshadows her considerable talent. She trained at JYP for three years before debuting, and her clear, powerful lower-register vocals provide the harmonic backbone in TWICE's group singing. She has been candid in interviews about the physical and emotional demands of TWICE's schedule, and is respected in the fanbase for her honesty.

Beyond K-pop

Cooking Korean food (she frequently prepares meals for members), food vlogging, and watching films.

Momo

Momo

Kyoto, Japan

Hirai Momo was initially eliminated from Sixteen. The public outcry at her elimination was so large and sustained that she was reinstated — an event that produced some of the most viral footage in early K-pop reality TV history. The reason for the outcry was visible: her dance ability is widely regarded as among the most technically advanced of any active K-pop performer. She trained in street and commercial dance from childhood, and her isolation technique, timing, and physical confidence are at a level that professional choreographers openly discuss.

Beyond K-pop

Japanese home cooking (she prepares elaborate meals for herself and other members), gaming, working out, and a close, ongoing relationship with the Osaka food scene when she visits home.

Sana

Sana

Osaka, Japan

Minatozaki Sana was scouted at a shopping centre in Osaka at 16 and moved to Seoul alone to train at JYP. One of three Japanese-born TWICE members — alongside Momo and Mina, all from Osaka or the Kansai region — she became TWICE's most viral personality for her memorable ad-libs, catchphrases, and off-script interview moments. Her emotional openness and warmth toward fans created one of K-pop's most loyal individual fanbases.

Beyond K-pop

Fashion and skincare (she is one of the most brand-active members), photography, collecting plush toys, and maintaining close friendships with other K-pop artists outside the group.

Jihyo

Jihyo

Guri, Gyeonggi, South Korea

Park Ji-hyo trained at JYP for ten years before debuting — longer than any other TWICE member and among the longest training periods of any active K-pop artist. She joined the company at age 8, trained through childhood and all of secondary school, and debuted at 20 as TWICE's captain. The decade of training gave her an authority and vocal power that grounds the group's live performances. She co-wrote 'Gone' and several other TWICE tracks, establishing herself as a genuine creative voice within the group.

Beyond K-pop

Songwriting, cooking, fitness training, and maintaining a close connection with her family in Guri.

Mina

Mina

San Antonio, Texas (raised in Kobe, Japan)

Myoui Mina was born in the United States but raised in Kobe, Japan, where she trained as a competitive ballet dancer from age five. She was scouted by a JYP representative at a shopping mall in Japan — not a staged audition, but an impromptu street scouting — and moved to Seoul alone to train. Her classical ballet training manifests in the extreme precision of her movement: every gesture is measured, her posture is extraordinary, and she brings a stillness to performance that professional dance critics have noted.

Beyond K-pop

Ballet (she continues to train independently, separately from group dance practice), piano, reading across literary fiction, and cats — she has spoken about wanting to adopt many.

Dahyun

Dahyun

Seongnam, South Korea

Kim Da-hyun was spotted at a dance competition as a teenager and directly scouted by JYP. She is TWICE's most recognisable comedian — her timing, physical comedy, and ability to generate memorable moments in unscripted situations have made her the engine of much of the group's variety content. Her white hair and bright smile became early signature visuals. She is also a deeply serious still photographer who works with film cameras on her own time.

Beyond K-pop

Film photography — she shoots seriously and has spoken about developing her own prints — listening to music across a wide range of genres, and board games.

Chaeyoung

Chaeyoung

Gangbuk, Seoul, South Korea

Son Chae-young is TWICE's primary rapper and its most visually unconventional member — she has multiple tattoos, a closely cropped haircut she changed to independently, and a fashion sensibility rooted in streetwear and fine art that sits distinctly apart from standard K-pop aesthetics. She writes her own rap verses and has increasingly taken control of her artistic presentation as TWICE has matured. Fine art is her most serious outside interest, and she paints regularly.

Beyond K-pop

Painting (she works in multiple media including ink and oil), tattooing and body art as a form of self-expression, streetwear collecting, and photography.

Tzuyu

Tzuyu

Tainan, Taiwan

Chou Tzu-yu was scouted in Taiwan at 14 and moved to Seoul alone — leaving her family and friends at an age when most teenagers are still in middle school. She debuted as TWICE's maknae at 16 and became one of the most discussed visuals in fourth-generation K-pop virtually immediately. Her maturity, composure, and poise in front of cameras — particularly given how young she was — distinguished her from the beginning. She became an archery enthusiast through a fan meeting demonstration and has since taken the sport seriously.

Beyond K-pop

Archery (she practises regularly and has spoken about competing), cooking Taiwanese food for her members, and cats.
